"Look at your watch, don't look at what time it is."
It doesn't just tell time, it tells
Passing on inheritance and family heirlooms is always a landmark moment within a family. Heirlooms often symbolize qualities like res- responsibility and excellence, honoring a rich tradition that has gone on for many years. For fathers, one of the most popular items that are passed on to their sons is watches. Passing on timepieces is not only a testament to the enduring quality and timeless design of the watches themselves, but it also symbolizes the love between family members.
Materials
Time has been around since the conception of life, watches help us keep track of the time we have here on earth. the materials of those watches are important and should be something to consider when in the market for a new time piece. These materials can range from leather bands all the way to gold or even diamonds. whats more important, however, is the movements on the inside.
What makes it tick
A watch movement (also known as a “calibre”) is the engine of a watch that acts as the powerhouse to make the watch and its functions operate. This internal mechanism moves the hands and powers any complications such as a chronograph, annual calendar or dual time zone. The movement drives all timekeeping functions and is essential to keeping accurate time. A watch would not function without it. There are countless different movements created by watch manufactures that utilize proprietary innovations, but each of these movements falls into one of three categories: quartz, mechanical, and an additional digital timepiece.
Mechanical
Mechanical movements are often chosen over quartz movements for luxury watches due to their high level of quality and craftsmanship. Skillfully created by expert watchmakers, these movements contain an intricate series of tiny components working together to power the timepiece. Although the general design of mechanical watches hasn’t changed much in centuries, technology has allowed for more precise engineering and greater attention to detail.
Automatic
The second form of mechanical movement
is automatic. Often referred to as “self-winding,” automatic movements harness energy through the natural motion of the wearer’s wrist. Watches with automatic movements are very popular because the wearer doesn’t have to worry about winding the watch daily to ensure constant operation. As long as the watch is worn regularly, it will maintain power without requiring winding.
Digital
Digital watches are among the most simple, however, the most complicated at the same time. Digital watches are typically known for the ability to show the time of day and have features such as being a stop watch. Then there is the Apple watch, which tells you how good your sleep was the previous night.
Lifestyle importance
Overall, the right watch for you is one that suits not only your lifestyle but also your budget. Something to consider is the type of work you do on a daily basis and also what type of message you want to portray through your timepiece. If this is your first watch you may want to go with something that is middle of the road in price to get a feel for wearing one and see if it’s something you grow fond of.
